PokerPressBox.com was founded on July 24th, 2005.  In August of that year PokerPressBox.com created the European Zone, a subdivision with exclusive coverage of poker from across the pond. This subdivision allows for readers of other continents to explore and contribute to the ever growing and evolving world of poker. Together with the capable and brilliant staff of Codex702, located in majestic Brazil de Ciudad Colon near San Jose, (in Costa Rica), the visionaries of PokerPressBox.com created what they believe is a Informational Portal product with a service beyond compare.

European Zone – Ian James has been a British expatriate since 1995. He lived and worked for numerous card rooms in Europe in over a dozen countries. He has actively pursued a career in the poker industry since the age of 18. He began as a dealer and graduated to international tournament director. He came to San Jose, Costa Rica to consult for an online poker room and resided in Brazil de Ciudad Colon where he was later discovered by PokerPressBox.com executives. He has been key in developing the European Zone compiling a data base, writing reviews, articles and news items representing the poker world outside the US. Ian can be found in the field collecting data for live tournament updates, as well.

Webmaster – Carlos Valverde is the webmaster and office manager for Codex702. Born 18 June, 1983 in San Jose, Costa Rica he resides in San Pedro. He earned an electronics engineering degree at CUC, Cartago in his homeland. He continued his education to become a graphic designer. His hobbies include eating Pizza (a lot of it), music (namely Pink Floyd and progressive rock), and he enjoys playing guitar and piano. He is an avid fan of Macintosh computers and Felix the Cat.

Programmers – Carlos Rojas was born 21 July, 1983 in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is a self taught computer programmer and developer who started playing and working on computers at the age of 8. The science and workings of computers became a passion. He used unconventional methods to attain the degree of knowledge he possesses by reading books and experimenting on the internet. Rojas is responsible for most modules and plug-ins offered by PokerPressBox.com and continues to push the team to pursue a modern and innovative approach to web development. He is the pivotal force behind the creation of a site with features never before offered on the web. One can be assured that Carlos Rojas will keep PokerPressBox.com fresh and exciting, much to the chagrin of a veteran executive staff. His hobbies include building and destroying websites of his own creation, playing poker and Reggaeton music

Jonathan Calvo was born 2 March, 1984 in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is the youngest and newest member of the PokerPressBox.com staff. He earned a degree in software development at Cenfotec in his homeland. He is PokerPressBox.com’s web developer and programmer and was key in creating the live updates script that outperforms the competition on every level. He also takes credit for helping to design the sleek and modern front page template one sees today. His hobbies are music, movies and he enjoys spending time with his friends.
