Nothing like helping your brothers and sisters by playing poker, poker with a good cause is what people says, the second annual Simon Poker Day, considered part of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Dublin, attracted 162 players to the event on Saturday 3rd November, and is on track to break last year's 50,000 euros in donations for Dublin Simon's homeless projects this upcoming weekend.

All incidental expenses in the running of Simon Poker Day were picked up by the players and organizers and no deductions have been made from the donations, many of the tournament organizers, including the Jackpot Club, donated their wages for the day. The event attracted players from across Ireland and the UK as well as a few hardy Europeans who wanted to be part of this fantastic poker event

The atmosphere was convivial, bordering on the giddy with one overly enthusiastic Italian buying-in a second time after busting before being spotted and disqualified and one well-known local accidentally purchasing an over-priced snooker cue in the auction. Last year's winner and former World Series of Poker main event winner Noel Furlong was knocked out early while snooker legend Ken Doherty and former Irish international footballer Tony Cascarino both cashed. Another well known face is Northern Irishman Hugh Gribben who traveled from the UK to play in what was his first live tournament, former Irish Open winner Christy Smith, Mikael Younan from Sweden, Andrea Balla from Italy, Jeff Duvall, Rory Liffey, Simon Noab, and Michael Codkin. The winner was Waterford man Pat Storan who won a total pool of 10,690 euros at the end.

The organizers of the event would like to thank everyone who gave of their time and money to support Simon Poker Day.
