The Poker Players Alliance is beginning a voter registration campaign that will be running during the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas as an effort to revert or at list put on hold the federal and state laws that forbid online gambling in all its forms including online poker. The Herald Group created the If You Play, Have a Say campaign and is also helping the PPA with media and tactical communication support. PPA launched a Web site, www poker-2008.org, in where anyone can get forms and information on how to register.

The PPA has already signed up more than 1 million members since its formation three years ago, thanks to private funding from its members and Canadian group Interactive Gaming Council. Membership. The PPA membership was later enhanced by the U.S approval of the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act in 2006, which

"Out of this has sprung a political constituency that [we've] tapped into to influence public policy in Washington,". "And we've found that one of the best things we can do is not only lobby members, send letters to members of Congress, and attend town hall meetings, but get players registered and active on election days." said  the PPA executive director John Pappas

PPA is trying to create a political awareness among members and other players in the U.S by supporting a series of new projects currently under contemplation by Congress that would help to regulate online gambling and to prevent gambling among minors or "problem" players.
