Lounge Poker Team player, Stefan Mattsson has scored another important
achievement in his professional poker career, cashing €220,000 ($346,621) at
the WPT Spanish Championship in the Casino Barcelona. Mattson outlasted a field
of 253 players including some famous names in the world of poker such as Juha
Helppi; Carlos Mortensen; Annette Obrestad; Antonio Esfandiari and Patrik
Antonius. Stefan ended 2nd, cashing his largest prize in his career.

Lounge sponsored player, Stefan Mattsson's 2nd got busted by Danish player
Casper Hansen in the final hand, when Hansen went all in with the chip lead
holding A-2 after Mattsson raised $205k from the big blind. Mattsson called
holding A-9 and held the edge before the flop came 5-5-2, giving Hansen two
pair. J came on the turn and K on the river, sealing the victory for Hansen and
2nd place for Mattsson.
"Although I really
wanted to win I am just proud to have got so far. To have come second place in
an event that attracted a tough field of over 250 players with the likes of
Patrik Antonius and Antonio Esfandiari, it is a great achievement. This
tournament win puts me in a great frame of mind for the WSOP" said Stephan.
Mattsson walked away 22nd
in the2007 WSOP main event cashing over $300k. He also scored the 57th
place at the 2006 WSOP, cashing $123,699. The Swedish player continued his
success through 2008 culminating in this 2nd place in Barcelona and leaving him
in great form for this year's WSOP and a potential 3rd cash running that the
WSOP main event.
