Andy Black Biography

Andy “The Monk” Black was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He currently resides in Dublin. He discovered his love for poker at a very early age playing with his mother. Andy started considering the game more seriously while he was studying law at Trinity College in Dublin. In 1997, he finished 14th at the World Series of Poker Main Event picking up just under $30,000. After this achievement Black disappeared from the poker scene to become a Buddhist Monk. In 2004 he was back again on the poker ring doing extremely well in the Irish tournaments and gaining a final table and a fifth place in the 2005 WSOP Main Event taking home almost $ 2,000,0000.
