Obrestad is the youngest person to ever win a World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) bracelet and is consider one of the most promising and talented young players in the game. As of 2009, her total live tournament winnings exceed the $3 million mark. She also won more than $850.000 playing online.
The 21 year old Norwegian joins other Full Tilt Poker sponsored female pros, including Jen Harman, Amanda “Mandy B” Baker, Lynette Chan, Kristy Gazes, Svetlana Gromenkova, Soraya Homam, Karina Jett, Christiane Klecz, Esther Rossi, Erica Schoenberg, Beth Shak, and Cyndy Violette.
Annette Obrestad started playing online when she was only fifteen years old and claims she never had to deposit any money since she started. Instead, she made her initial online bankroll by winning $9 in a poker freeroll and the rest is history. With only 18 year old, Obrestad won her first tournament title and the respect of the poker community after taking the 2007 WSOPE Main Event and the $2 million prize, setting a record the youngest bracelet winner at the time, and for the largest prize ever won by a female player. The same year, she came close to winning her second major live title, finishing in second place at the 2007 European Poker Tour Dublin event and adding another $431,184 to her live event winnings.
Even when she’s been tearing up the international poker scene for the last years, she is only now old enough to compete in the World Series of Poker. Annette will make her official debut at the 2010 WSOP and will certainly be one of the top stories of the season.
