The tournament series offers players a total of 25 preliminary events starting on July 28th. Buy-ins for these event range from $200 + $25 to $1,000 + $70 and feature several different games including No-Limit and Fixed-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit Omaha/8, H.O.R.S.E, Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, and Badugi. The $4,800+$200 buy in Main Event will be held from August 20th to August 25th, and will offer players two starting days of Day 1, with Day 2 kicking off on August 22nd. The final table will be taped for broadcast on Fox Sports Network (FSN).
The 2009 Legends of Poker main event ran from August 22nd to August 26th, and carried a higher buy-in ($9,800+$200). The event brought a field of 279 entrants for a total net prize pool of $2,650,500 prize pool, with $1,009,000 paid to the tournament winner (Prahlad Friedman).
Several online poker rooms, including Party Poker and UB.com, are offering players a chance to satellite into the 2010 WPT Legends of Poker. WPT Legends of Poker qualifiers are held each Sunday at 3:20 pm ET through August 1st. One prize package will be handed out for every 20 players, with one prize package guaranteed. Each $8,000 PartyPoker prize package includes a $5,200 seat in the 2010 WPT Legends of Poker Main Event.
Players can buy in directly for $400 + $30 or satellite their way for free through the daily WPT Legends of Poker Freerolls The top 50 finishers on each freeroll advance to the WPT Legends of Poker Sub Qualifier Speed Rebuy. There’s also a $5 daily WPT Legends of Poker Sub Qualifiers Speed event (no rebuy) that awards 1 in every 10 players a seat in the WPT Legends of Poker Satellite Qualifier.
