• 2010 WSOP coverage kicks off on ESPN

    The 2010 World Series of Poker broadcast on ESPN and ESPN HD will begin airing tonight at 8:00PM EST tonight with the coverage of the first $50,000 Poker Players Championship won by Florida poker pro Michael Mizrachi.

    The Poker Players Championship registered a field of 116 players and created a $5,500,000 prize pool with the first place taking $1.5 million. The tournament, which replaced the $50,000 HORSE tournament, saw Mizrachi winning his first WSOP gold bracelet and nearly $1.7 million.

    ESPN broadcast will feature only three events ($50.000 Players Championship, Tournament of Champions and Main Event) covered in 26 episodes, with the first 17 episodes running from July 27-August 17th at 8:00 p.m ET, and the remaining 9 episodes running from August 24th-November 9th at 9:00 p.m. ET. ESPN coverage will run each Tuesday night through November 9th, when the final nine players, also known as November Nine, return to Las Vegas to compete for the world championship. ESPN broadcasts will be commented by Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.
