• International Poker Players Assn launches new Equity Rebuy Tournament at the Bicycle Casino

The International Poker Players Assn. Is announcing the launching of a new, patent-pending Equity Rebuy Tournament structure today at the Bicycle Casino, with the winner taking a $250,000 entry into November's inaugural Monte Carlo IPPA Championship.

According to IPPA President and CEO Yosh Nakano, the Equity Rebuy Shootout structure is new to tournament poker. The veteran poker pro and 2006 Intercontinental Poker Championship winner said that unlike the standard rebuy at the starting levels, in which you can rebuy for the same amount as the original buy-in, the equity rebuy is available before the second round.

The mega satellites, which start today at 2 p.m.at L.A.'s Bicycle Casino, give players the chance to win an entry into the qualifier for just $120. At 6 p.m., the first round of the three-round shoot-out Qualifier begins. The winner will be decided in a final table Friday, Aug. 27.

The winner of this first qualifier will win a seat at the Nov. 29-Dec. 2 Monte Carlo IPPA Championship in Monte Carlo and become a member of the "Elite 48." The final 48 players will compete in a tournament that is expected to redefine the meaning of a high-roller event.

Created in partnership with SBM of Monte Carlo, the $12 million No Limit Hold-Em Shootout sets the tone for those with a taste for ultrahigh stakes and fierce competition. This televised event will be set against the stunning backdrop of Monte Carlo, a perfect locale for this event. Featuring a $250,000 buy-in, the largest amount ever for a poker tournament, the Monte Carlo IPPA Championship was designed to showcase the world's best-known professional poker players and give amateur and lesser known players the opportunity to move up through the ranks and play at the upper echelons of poker.

"For as little as $1,000 -- less if you win a satellite -- a player can enter a qualifier and have an opportunity to win the $5 million first-place prize at the Monte Carlo IPPA Championship," said Nakano.
