• Poker Gives announces National Poker Month

    Non profit organization, Poker Gives is currently working with more several cardrooms in the United States to launch a new and larger fund raising project called National Poker Month set to take place in September, 2010.

    Over 20 cardrooms in the have already agreed to host fundraising tournaments during Poker Gives' National Poker Month. In addition, Poker Nations will also host an online tournament on Full Tilt Poker on Sept. 19th at 1pm PST ($10+$10 buy-in, tournament ID is 172330870).

    Half of the proceeds from each event will go to Poker Gives and half will go into the prize pool. Winners from each participating cardroom will be entered into a drawing on October 4, 2010 awarding additional prizes, including:
    • TWO seats to the WPT Invitational – Two winners will be selected to play in the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational Tournament. This is a $200,000 televised freeroll that you cannot buy into, you must be invited. You'll rub shoulders with Hollywood celebrities and famous poker pros at the Commerce Casino in California.
    • A WPT Boot Camp Seat - Winner gets to pick the date of the camp they would like to attend – good for 1 year - $1,895 value
    • A Card Player Cruises Poker Trip – Leaves out of Los Angeles December 5 -12, 2010 to the Mexican Riviera - $1,200 value
    • An hour poker lesson via phone with Mike Sexton – $300 value
    • An hour poker lesson via phone with Linda Johnson – $300 value
    Poker Gives is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charity organization founded by poker industry leaders Mike Sexton, Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, and Lisa Tenner as a way for the poker world to "give back" to worthwhile charity organizations. The goal is to raise funds through poker events and distribute the funds to four mainstream charities: Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Paralyzed Veterans of America. Special Olympics Nevada, and Step by Step Foundation.
