Professional poker player Andy Bloch was born and grew up in Orange, a small suburb of New Haven, Connecticut .
His passion for poker has its roots in his childhood. As a young kid and throughout high school in fact, Andy was always playing cards with his friends and family and surprisingly he was often winning.
Nevertheless he was a brilliant student and he now holds two electrical engineering degrees from MIT and a JD from Harvard Law School.
In 1992 after graduating from MIT, Andy discovered the newly opened Foxwoods Casino and decided to play poker seriously. Meanwhile he proceeded to get his JD from Harvard Law School . In 1999 he passed the bar exam, but he decided to delay his law career and pursued poker professionally instead. He never stopped playing since then.
In 10 years, Andy “The Rock” Bloch has banked more than $4.1 million in career tournament earnings. He reached nine World Series of Poker (WSOP) final tables. He is also the author of “The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Poker Tells”.
